Bill Burr Just TORCHED The Left, Disney & STRONGLY Defends Gina Carano! “They Proved Her Point”

TheQuartering [5/2/2022]

According to TheDecider:

Bill Burr is maintaining his support for former Mandalorian star Gina Carano after she was fired from the Disney+ show last year over a social media post comparing being a Republican today with being Jewish in Nazi Germany.

Burr, who starred on The Mandalorian as Mayfeld along with Carano, who played Cara Dune in the Star Wars spinoff, told The Hollywood Reporter that he did not think Carano’s firing was fair. The actress and MMA fighter starred on two seasons of The Mandalorian before being let go in February 2021; at the time, Lucasfilm slammed her social media posts as “abhorrent and unacceptable.”

Looking back on his colleague’s firing, Burr told THR, “I thought it was funny that the liberals proved her point. They just use outrage because they don’t like your politics. As someone who considers himself liberal, it’s disappointing to see the left become how the right used to be when they went after the Dixie Chicks after they criticized George W. Bush.”

He continued, “There’s not a lot of people like that — most are just trying not to get in trouble — but there’s this small collection of lunatics — either on the right or the left, at any given moment – that cause hysteria. And now there’s so many [media outlets] that want eyeballs, they make money off advertising, that they give attention to these crazy fringe people.”

Burr added, “The whole thing with Gina: You can’t chime in when the shit’s happening, because then you cause static for other people on the [show]. That somebody’s opinion — or their political beliefs — makes people try to destroy their ability to make a living, it’s fucking bizarre to me.”

After being fired from The Mandalorian, Carano was also dropped by her talent agency, UTA, and lost her role in a planned spinoff series involving her character. Before sharing the Instagram about Nazi Germany that ultimately led to her firing, Carano had posted other controversial takes on social media about mask mandates, voter fraud in the 2020 election and pronouns.
