A TikTok video of the governor and his motorcade being booed has been reshared thousands of times on X, formerly Twitter. Online, the videos are often accompanied with political commentary against Walz, but it’s worth noting that Walz was there to support his home team, the Golden Gophers—not the Wolverines—at the latter’s home stadium, “The Big House.”
The Trump War Room X account posted the video on Saturday and wrote, “Tampon Tim gets booed outside the Big House,” a nickname Republican critics use for Walz in reference to a law he signed requiring public schools to provide menstrual products. As of Sunday afternoon, the X post had over 380,000 views and 1,500 shares. To watch the video, click here.
OutKick, a Fox-owned sports outlet, also reposted the video and wrote on X, “Michigan fans ruthlessly boo Tim Walz.”
Steven Cheung, Trump’s campaign spokesperson, told Newsweek in an email on Sunday, “Tampon Tim is a weirdo and it’s no surprise he was heckled and scurried out of the stadium like a rat.”
Walz, a former high school football coach, posted a video compilation of his game day experience on X, featuring interactions with Michigan and Minnesota players, coaches, and fans. He also shared a photo from a tailgate with University of Michigan students supporting campus voter registration efforts.
In an X post on Sunday morning, he wrote, “I’ll always be a Minnesota guy. But after meeting some great people at the Big House, I must admit – Michiganders know how to host a good game day.”
