Cancel Culture is toxic, and it should be stopped. Sadly, I don’t know if it ever will be. Kudos to Bill. Best of luck.
According to the Washington Times:
Bill Burr says his former colleague on “The Mandalorian,” Gina Carano, lost her job due to “f—-ing crazy time” created by cancel culture advocates.
The comedian, who plays a “Mayfeld” on the Disney+ show, defended the actress during a recent appearance on the “All Things Comedy” YouTube channel.
Ms. Carano was fired from Lucasfilm after comparing the current political climate — “hating someone for their political views” — to Germany before World War II.
“I’m on that f—-ing show. Now I gotta watch what the f—- I say,” Mr. Burr said Feb. 24. “She was an absolute sweetheart. Super-nice f—-ing person and, you know, whatever.”
“They canceled her action figure,” co-host Joe DeRosa replied. “That’s how deep cancel culture is. They canceled her action figure. It’s like, ‘Let the action figure come out.’”
Lucasfilm disagreed and blasted Ms. Carano’s statements as “abhorrent and unacceptable.”
“Jews were beaten in the streets, not by Nazi soldiers but by their neighbors … even by children,” the actress tweeted prior to her ouster. “Because history is edited, most people today don’t realize that to get to the point where Nazi soldiers could easily round up thousands of Jews, the government first made their own neighbors hate them simply for being Jews. How is that any different from hating someone for their political views.”
