June 16, 2025Escalation Fears Mount: Pressure Builds on Trump Amid Israeli-Iranian Tensions
Things are escalating, and the situation is becoming incredibly uncomfortable. President Trump is currently under immense pressure from many, including commentator Dave Smith, who has boldly called for his impeachment and removal from office over alleged involvement in recent Israeli strikes. We are still seeking more information, but the current outlook is certainly concerning.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has made his stance clear: he is not interested in any peace talks with Iran and has refused to rule out taking out Iran’s supreme leader, according to ABC. This hardline position comes despite recent reports indicating that the Iranian regime is actually asking to return to the negotiating table. In fact, we’ve seen recent reports suggesting that Iran does want to negotiate and deescalate hostilities with Israel. However, Netanyahu, it seems, doesn’t want to negotiate and appears keen on drawing America into another regime change.
There are a lot of people pushing for Trump to get involved, some appearing to be “shills” who profit from online discourse. But our stance remains firm: if Israel wants to take out Iran, it’s not our people and not our fight.
Conflicting Narratives on Trump’s Role
We’re receiving conflicting reports regarding President Trump’s involvement. Israel is actively trying to draw us into this conflict, claiming that Trump is involved and has signed off on these actions. However, Trump himself is saying he’s not. According to Netanyahu and other sources, Trump allegedly had full prior knowledge of Israel’s attack and gave it his blessing, while pretending to negotiate with the Iranians as a cover.
Yet, Tucker Carlson, whom we trust significantly more than Netanyahu, has stated that he knows for a fact this isn’t true. Carlson claims that Secretary of State Mike Witovoff and Trump were negotiating in good faith and genuinely wanted to avoid this war and reach an agreement. This leaves us in a precarious position: if Netanyahu is telling the truth, Trump is an “impotent leader” who blessed a sneak attack. But if Carlson is right, Trump is still “impotent” for allowing Israel to lie about our involvement without correcting the record. Either way, it raises serious questions about the betrayal of his “America First” principles.
Dave Smith’s Strong Condemnation
Dave Smith has been trending due to his strong anti-Trump stance on this issue. He believes the time for negotiations is long past, echoing sentiments that after Pearl Harbor, it was not the time for FDR to negotiate with Japan. He views Donald Trump’s current call for Iran to return to the negotiating table as a “joke” and an act of an “impotent leader”.
Smith also points to historical context, noting that in 2007, the Pentagon advised George W. Bush against war with Iran because the U.S. lacked “escalation dominance,” meaning Iran could hit all our bases and embassies in the region. While we disagree with Smith on whether Iran has been depleted by Israeli strikes, we acknowledge that Iran has allies and has been pushed to a point where they may feel compelled to respond.
Our Deep Concerns and What’s at Stake
We supported Donald Trump last year, and while it seemed like the right calculation at the time, we apologize for doing so given these developments. Dave Smith believes Trump should be impeached and removed for this, calling it an “absolute betrayal” of everything Trump campaigned on and stood for. He warns that Trump will lose his coalition over this, as many who supported him simply “will not go along with this”. Beyond foreign policy, this situation could also cost Trump vital political capital needed for the domestic deportation fight, a battle where he needs every ounce of support.
The broader fear is that the “neocons win,” leading to more war abroad regardless of who is elected – a continuous cycle of bombing the world and inviting the world. We are also seeing alarming military movements, with a destroyer and a carrier, both scheduled for decommissioning next year, being sent to the region. This raises serious concerns about a potential operation or the creation of more targets for hostile actors. An Iranian news outlet was even struck by the IDF while broadcasting live.
President Trump is under immense pressure, and we sincerely hope he resists it. He needs to come out and disavow what Benjamin Netanyahu is doing, especially if Netanyahu refuses to come to the negotiating table. If that’s the case, then this is no longer about Israel defending themselves; it’s something far more dangerous. We do not want him to redeem this situation by getting involved further.
