Eight days out from winning back the White House, President-elect Donald Trump is quickly making his choices for positions in his Cabinet and staff.
So far, he has named his choices to fill six of 18 Cabinet picks. On Tuesday, Trump named Tesla and SpaceX founder Elon Musk and former GOP presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy to lead a new department titled the Department of Government Efficiency.
Trump said the new department would “provide advice and guidance from outside of government,” and his picks to lead the new agency more than fit the bill.
Trump’s latest Cabinet nominations include U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, a former GOP presidential rival, as secretary of state, and Fox News host and U.S. Army veteran Pete Hegseth as defense secretary. Trump’s moves have come fast and furious as he prepares to launch his second term as president.
On Tuesday, Trump named John Ratcliffe as his pick for CIA director. Ratcliffe is a four-term former congressman from Texas who served as director of national intelligence in Trump’s first term.
Also on Tuesday, Trump nominated former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee to serve as U.S. ambassador to Israel and businessman Steven Witkoff to serve as special envoy to the Middle East.
Other Cabinet appointments already nominated by Trump include South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem (R) over the Department of Homeland Security; Lee Zeldin, former GOP congressman from New York, as head of the EPA; and former George W. Bush aide Elise Stefanik as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations.
