Elon Musk Faces Defamation After CNN Appearance, Tesla Targeted by Protests and Vandalism
We’ve got a lot to talk about today, and frankly, it’s infuriating to watch what’s happening. Elon Musk has had enough, and honestly, so have we. The attacks on Tesla, with lunatics caught on tape and facing prosecution, are bad enough. But now, disgraced politicians are going on CNN and spewing outright lies.
You heard it right: former Democratic Representative Jamal Bowman went on CNN and called Elon Musk a “literal Nazi” and a “thief”. Not figuratively, but literally. Musk has rightfully said, “enough is enough” and has now threatened to sue Bowman after this defamatory appearance. As we see it, this is the only way to fight back against this kind of reckless and false rhetoric. When someone goes on national television and makes such heinous accusations as fact, there have to be consequences. For too long, this kind of slander has gone unchecked, and it’s hurting innocent people.
Speaking of being targeted, the backlash against Elon Musk is having a tangible impact. Demonstrations at Tesla showrooms have entered their fifth week. This “Tesla takedown movement,” as it’s being called on their website, is urging people to “Sell your Tesla and dump your stock” to punish Musk. And we’re seeing the effects: Tesla’s stock has absolutely cratered in the last three months, and it’s hard not to see a connection to this organized pushback.
But it gets worse than just protests. We’re now seeing reports of arson and vandalism targeting Tesla property. In Loveland, Colorado, individuals allegedly trying to set fire to Teslas were found with materials to produce firebombs. In South Carolina, someone is accused of torching a Tesla charging station and spray-painting profane messages, reportedly found with a letter objecting to President Trump and Elon Musk’s federal layoffs. The Attorney General has rightly insisted that these cases will be treated like terrorism.
Following the Justice Department charging three people with vandalizing Tesla property, the President even floated the idea of sending these accused individuals to prison in El Salvador. The reaction to this has been… interesting, to say the least. While some are aghast, many others seem to believe that if you intentionally damage someone’s property for political reasons, you should face serious consequences. It’s a pretty simple concept: don’t engage in what looks an awful lot like domestic terror behavior.
