Alright everyone, let’s dive into what’s really going on with the Karmelo Anthony situation, because there’s been a massive surge in what looks like fake news surrounding this case. It feels like the family might be trying desperately to paint Karmelo as a sympathetic figure, maybe even hoping to get the trial moved to a more favorable location. Everything about it seems pretty suspicious.
We’ve seen videos making the rounds, particularly on TikTok and X, including one that claims to be Judge Angela Tucker’s Ring doorbell footage. This video purportedly shows a large Black man wearing a brand new MAGA hat aggressively kicking her front door. Judge Tucker, for context, is a Republican, runs unopposed, and is reportedly a proponent of DEI and restorative justice; she granted home release to the admitted stabber, Karmelo Anthony, and the unnamed teenager who was Austin Metaf.
However, it turns out this video is making the rounds completely unchecked and is not what it claims to be. We now know this video is actually five years old and happened in Charlotte, North Carolina, not Texas, and it’s not the judge’s home. This seems like a blatant attempt to spread misinformation.
Meanwhile, Austin Metaf’s dad, Jeff Metaf, the guy who everyone seems upset with, continues to deal with significant issues. He’s been swatted again, making it at least the second time. He’s clearly an unwilling participant in this larger conversation, but people are having it with or without him. I tried to verify a specific Facebook post from him claiming he was swatted again but couldn’t find his profile; I did find dozens of fake Jeff Metaf Facebook profiles using his picture, suggesting people are actively trying to capitalize on this situation. It’s crazy. I really hope law enforcement gets better at handling swatting incidents.
Honestly, this whole thing feels like it could be an operation run by Karmelo’s defense team or lawyers to muddy the waters and try to generate sympathy for their client.
Looking at this from a politics and media perspective, this Karmelo Anthony thing strikes me as a total scam and very low-level scamming. A huge indicator is who is representing Karmelo Anthony. The person acting as his public representative is identified as Dominique Alexander, who is reportedly a felon with a history of hitting babies and women. He also allegedly runs a fraudulent organization that hasn’t filed required IRS documents. It’s bizarre that the Anthony family has this individual representing them.
If this case had the potential for a large-scale “grift,” you’d see major figures like Al Sharpton, Ben Crump, Jesse Jackson, and BLM activists involved. The fact that none of these well-known “pro grifters” are around Karmelo suggests they know there isn’t much potential here for a significant payout. They aren’t going to get involved for anything less than a couple million dollars.
Furthermore, there is no mainstream national media coverage of this case. You don’t see CBS, CNN, or MSNBC covering it. This strongly suggests that media executives have looked at the case and decided it’s not something they want to put energy behind and cannot be turned into a “BLM hero” narrative. They know this case is a non-starter. It’s likely going to come down to a “ho-hum” situation of a young person making a poor decision, which happens every day. There’s no “I can’t breathe” or “hands up, don’t shoot” angle here that they typically capitalize on. This case feels like it will be cut and dry.
There have also been other pieces of fake news spreading, like the claim that the weapon wasn’t a knife but a cleat sharpener. This is another example of blatantly false information being stated with confidence by people trying to push a narrative.
All of this points to a very low-level, Mickey Mouse grift. The support and narrative being pushed for Karmelo feel contrived and transparent.
A truly sad and frankly insane commentary on our society is seen when comparing the donation funds for the two individuals. Austin Metaf’s GoFundMe, set up by his father, has now finally surpassed Karmelo Anthony’s GiveSendGo campaign. As of the source information, Austin’s fund had raised over $512,000, while Karmelo’s had raised just over $506,000. The fact that the alleged person who took Austin’s life has raised half a million dollars is a mockery and a disgrace. What kind of twisted morality supports this? It appears to be driven by leftism, the same ideology that supports other controversial figures.
Looking at the campaigns themselves, Austin’s account is filled with well-wishes, while Karmelo’s has comments essentially saying the victim deserved it and offering support like “we got you”. Even with the money raised for Karmelo, likely 99% of it will go to the “grifters” surrounding the case, with hardly anything left for his defense because the case seems so straightforward.
We’ll keep following this, but updates might slow down until a trial date is set. Make sure you subscribe so you don’t miss anything.
