Concerns Mount Over Karmelo Anthony Fundraiser as Alleged Fraud and Unlicensed Security Details Emerge
Significant questions are being raised regarding the GiveSendGo fundraiser established for Karmelo Anthony, specifically concerning the organization managing the funds and providing services. The Next Generation Action Network (NGN), which has handled press conferences and overall representation for Karmelo Anthony, is alleged to have been engaged in active criminal activity from the very beginning of the GiveSendGo. Disturbingly, it’s claimed that Frisco ISD has aligned with this alleged criminal activity.
Dominique Alexander, identified as the head of NGN, is described as a multiple time felon. We previously noted that Alexander had been sentenced to prison for two years for violating his probation on multiple occasions. Alexander has been seen in footage with Karmelo Anthony upon his release from jail, alongside others described as a “security team”.
A primary concern centers on the security services NGN states they are providing for Karmelo Anthony and his family. According to NGN’s website, Addigan Threat is the director of security and protocol. However, a response obtained from the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) indicates that Threat is not licensed as a private investigator, nor is he licensed as a security guard. He allegedly holds no licensing overseen by the Texas Private Security Board and has never applied for it. Providing personal security in Texas requires licensing, even for unarmed guards, and operating without it is illegal. Texas law requires all security guards to be licensed and undergo training, such as Level Two security guard training. NGN is also legally required to display its Texas Private Security License on its website and maintain a certificate of insurance and security bond. Based on information provided, the Texas Department of Safety has no responsive records indicating NGN has a licensed security guard.
Furthermore, another individual seen with Karmelo Anthony leaving the jail, Damon Crenshaw, is also described as an unlicensed ex-con who was reportedly arrested previously for attacking and causing bodily injury. These individuals providing security are allegedly unlicensed, which is deemed very illegal.
The fundraiser description states the money is for a “defense fund” and will support necessary needs including relocation and security. However, if NGN is providing security in an illegal manner, it’s characterized as a scam. We are particularly concerned as NGN allegedly told those who raised the GiveSendGo money that it would be used for providing security, which is now being called fraudulent. It appears NGN may be charging the Anthony family for these unlicensed services, potentially scraping money off the top of the fund.
We have reached out for comment from the alleged security guard but received no response. We are currently in the process of filing a complaint with Texas DPS. Licensed officers in Texas suggest these violations are taken very seriously. The Anthony family may have been receiving “security services” under false pretenses.
In related developments, Austin Mechaf’s father continues to seek answers regarding why Karmelo Anthony was allowed to graduate by Frisco ISD. Despite the school having a clear policy, there has been no clear explanation provided. Austin Mechaf’s father states he has been stonewalled when trying to get answers.
Given these revelations, it seems prudent for the Anthony family to consider cutting ties with NGN as soon as possible.
