Austin Metcalf’s Father Fires Back as War of Words With Karmelo Anthony Family Rep Heats Up
Things are truly heating up in the public battle between Karmelo Anthony‘s representative or “fixer” and Austin Metcalf‘s father. We’re seeing Austin Metcalf’s dad getting noticeably fed up with Karmelo Anthony’s team attempting to control the narrative. He’s finally responded directly to Dominique Alexander‘s recent statements.
Alexander, from the Next Generation Action Network, previously attacked Austin Metcalf’s father, Jeff Metcalf, for the second time via a video released recently. This follows a chaotic news conference on April 17th where Jeff Metcalf was escorted out by police. Alexander had turned his anger towards Elder Metcalf at the start of that press conference, calling him disrespectful and saying his appearance lacked dignity for his son.
Alexander has since released a video attempting to educate people on what happened at the press conference. He claimed Dallas Police Department officers were already outside the facility about an hour before the press conference started due to threats received against the Anthony family, his life, and his organization. He also stated that two plain-clothed intelligence officers from DPD were inside the building, and Jeffrey Metcalf walked past them. Alexander argued that his organization didn’t call the police on Metcalf Sr. because the police were already there.
We’ve heard from many online voices – gossip bloggers, YouTube, TikTok, Fox News – criticizing the insensitivity towards the father and questioning how he could be told to leave when he is a victim. Alexander’s defense is that this press conference wasn’t organized by Austin’s father, wasn’t about him, and he wasn’t invited. He stressed it was a private facility and, crucially, a criminal case. Alexander argued it’s inappropriate, ethically and for the court case, for that family to interact with the situation in that manner. He also cited the need to ensure the safety of all parties involved, suggesting they couldn’t just have someone show up.
Alexander pushed back against the idea that they simply went after, attacked, or had a vendetta against the father who lost his child. He even stated that he himself has lost a child, one year after burying his own son.
However, we need to call things out. Austin’s Dad did absolutely nothing wrong. He was just there. This notion that Alexander has lost a child feels like an attempt to play sympathetic. It’s important to note his past arrest regarding a 2-year-old child brought to the hospital with brain damage. Police were reportedly called on him for that incident.
Frankly, the Anthony family finds themselves in an impossible situation. Their son did something horrible, and it’s understandable they want to try to defend him. But if we could offer them advice, it would be to separate themselves from Alexander. We’ve seen some of the online reactions to Alexander’s actions: people calling him a grifter, despicable for being upset with a grieving father, asking if he sees a payday, questioning what he has over the family, and stating that Austin’s dad had every right to be there. There are blunt questions being raised online about whether Alexander became a minister before or after the incident involving the 2-year-old. How anyone would let him speak on their behalf is astonishing.
Despite the backlash, Alexander doubled down in his video, attacking those online who have criticized him for his past and posted his mug shot. He claimed not to care about what people say about him, especially what he called “racist posos” talking about his past, arguing it has nothing to do with them. He believes attacks against him only boost his ego and that he doesn’t “give a damn”. However, his actions suggest otherwise.
Alexander also claimed the Anthony family wasn’t even aware of Metcalf Sr.’s presence or the press conference release. We suspect the reason they’re even bringing this up again now is that the money has dried up. Looking at the “Help Karmelo” GiveSendGo, it seems to have been stuck at $525,000 for a while, although it was recently raised to a $600,000 goal. There are still some donations coming in, which frankly seems bonkers. We noted that another trending GiveSendGo for Shiloh Hendricks is up to $740,000, significantly more than the Karmelo campaign.
Now, Austin Metcalf’s dad has indeed fired back. He told Fox News Digital, “I don’t allow Alexander to live rent-free in my head.” He added, “It really does not matter about the lies this man spreads. He just wants more attention. Don’t give it to him. Justice will prevail.” Alexander later complained that people online found him insensitive for his attacks on Metcalf Sr. during the first news conference.
Anthony’s mother later spoke and reportedly cried, expressing fear, and the situation has seemingly devolved. We’ve seen commentary online drawing parallels between this case and others, suggesting a double standard in mainstream media coverage of violence depending on the race of those involved. Some feel there’s fatigue setting in with these situations.
Ultimately, we are proud of Austin’s father for finally speaking out and saying he’s had enough.
