Minecraft Caught Sneaking ‘Woke Propaganda’ Into Game Played by Kids
It looks like Minecraft is up to some shenanigans, apparently sneaking in some DEI type postings into a video game that is, for the most part, for kids. This is very, very weird. While others initially covered this, we dug a little deeper and found there’s more to the story.
The crazy weird wokeness inside Microsoft, the company behind Minecraft, appears to be just ramping up bit by bit. There was a time last summer where Microsoft laid off a handful of people in one particular diversity group. News outlets everywhere declared from the rooftops that Microsoft was ending DEI, that diversity programs were over.
However, we reached out to some of our sources inside Microsoft and confirmed that this was wildly inaccurate reporting. It was just a handful of people laid off, unrelated to DEI stuff, and Microsoft was in fact doubling down on DEI. We believe we were the only outlet that covered it that way. And that has been proven right; we’ve seen a whole bunch of stuff happening just over the last several weeks, and here’s another round of it inside of Minecraft.
Inside of Minecraft, there is a title screen that now apparently says, “Educate your friends on anti-racism“. Right on the title screen. We see this as literal leftist propaganda.
Now, you might say, what’s wrong with being against racism? Nothing. Obviously, we are against it; we don’t think you should be judging anybody based on their skin color or fur color, for that matter. But this is a far-leftist thing where it’s like, it’s not enough to just disagree with racism; you have to be actively anti-racist. Which actually means nothing.
This message has garnered significant attention. Notch, the creator of Minecraft, even chimed in, saying, “People who don’t realize they’re being evil. That’s who writes this“. Some responses suggest this is caused by a mod or texture pack, but we can confirm it is in the official game. This “Educate your friends on anti-racism” statement is in support of the Black Lives Matter movement and came out around January 2016. People have reacted with “go woke, go broke”.
Others online are saying “anti-racistism is just thinly veiled anti-white”. We agree; that’s correct. Mojang (the original developer, now owned by Microsoft) doesn’t deserve to exist anymore, in our opinion. The kids that play Minecraft will never really understand exactly what’s going on here.
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen the power of Minecraft leveraged. Even the US government, specifically Pentagon schools, instructs the use of Minecraft to promote DEI. The Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) school system touted the video game Minecraft as a tool for teaching social emotional learning (SEL), which we see as a Trojan horse for diversity, equity, and inclusion. A DoDEA Middle School teacher sent an email encouraging staff to use Minecraft to teach kids to develop “social emotional learning skills” like collaboration, communication, empathy, mindfulness, social management, coping skills, self-awareness, and problem-solving.
While claiming to equip children with the ability to manage emotions, feel empathy for others, and maintain positive relationships, social emotional learning integrates critical race theory throughout its entire education system. What a coincidence.
During his first two weeks in office, however, Trump issued an executive order prohibiting radical gender ideology, critical race theory, and diversity, equity, and inclusion instruction from federally funded American education. That includes schools on military bases run by DoDEA. The teacher suggested Minecraft teaches collaboration, teamwork, self-management, empathy, problem-solving, critical thinking, and safe social interactions, stating that role-playing and storytelling allow students to experience different viewpoints, improving emotional awareness and fairness.
Following the executive order, the DoDEA agency reportedly renamed social emotional learning programs as “resilience”. According to a meeting previously reported on, Secretary of Defense Pete Hexath made it clear he would enforce the president’s ban on DEI at the Department of Defense, stating, “No exceptions, no name changes or delays”.
But this goes along with what we’ve always said: these people are just going to change what it’s called.
There’s more to this story. We can confirm that DEI is very prevalent in Microsoft and hasn’t gone anywhere; there are lots of emails, training segments, and much more. This is not the first DEI message Microsoft has snuck into the Minecraft home screen. All the way back in 2020, details emerged from bugs filed on Minecraft servers detailing messages like “Black lives matter,” “Learn about allyship,” and “Amplify and listen to bipock voices”.
People reported these as a bug, as they should, calling them political propaganda in splash messages. The Minecraft launcher updates the splash file by itself with these messages. The file adds splash messages such as:
- Black Lives Matter
- Be anti-racist
- Learn about allyship
- Speak out against injustice and up for equality
- Amplify and listen to BIPAC voices
- Educate your friends on anti-racism
- Support the BIPAC community and creators
- Stand up for equity in your community
While this text has been around for a very, very long time – the splash text has been around since the early 2020s – it does seem like it hasn’t gone away or that it’s still prevalent. We’ve confirmed that “Educate your friends on anti-racism” is still in there.
Is this that big a deal? Yes, it is that big a deal. It just goes to show that once these companies get super big, they become more concerned about political motivations and more concerned about getting people to vote a certain way. We’ve certainly seen Fortnite get involved in that.
Video games should not be getting political. You can argue, yeah, is telling people not to be racist a bad thing? Not on its face. But when you’ve been around a long time and you know what it’s part of and what it means—what it really means—because it doesn’t really mean “be against racism” (basically everyone is). It’s “be against white people and be anti-white”. I mean, that’s what this stuff is.
For parents, they need to be aware that this stuff is probably going to happen. And our own government—this article from March 14th of this year, not even that long ago—was talking about how they could use Minecraft to essentially inject DEI into young minds. This is always a concern. This stuff gets in everywhere; it’s in Call of Duty, where you have to have a trans pride flag, but no straight pride flag.
Minecraft is very, very concerning since this game is played by children. Roblox too. These are games that need to be watched. We hope this information helps inform you.
