Escalating Feud Between Donald Trump and Elon Musk: A “Very, Very Bad” Situation Unfolds
The public relationship between Donald Trump and Elon Musk has descended into a full-blown conflict, described as a “disaster” and “very, very bad” for America. From our perspective, this high-profile spat is so concerning that “Democrats win no matter what”.
The tension became acutely apparent when Trump spoke out against Elon Musk for opposing a “big beautiful bill”. Trump asserted that Elon had intimate knowledge of the bill’s details, “better than almost anybody”. According to Trump, Elon initially had “no problem with it” until the proposed cuts to the EV credit became known. Trump suggested this move was about “billions and billions of dollars,” and we believe he “is probably right about that,” indicating Elon was “probably really pissed off about the EV credit going away”. We understand that wanting to sell cars of “all types”—electric, gasoline, hybrids—is a desire, and that the cut in EV credits could change one’s stance.
Prior to this public spat, Trump recalled that Elon “endorsed me very strongly” and “campaigned for me”. However, Elon Musk immediately countered this assertion, famously stating, “without me Trump would have lost the election”. We disagree with this claim. While we acknowledge Elon may have “helped in some ways,” we also observe that he “hurt in other ways,” citing, for example, mobilizing the left in Wisconsin which led to a loss of a Supreme Court vote against a conservative candidate. Additionally, Elon famously backed Ron DeSantis, who ultimately “couldn’t defeat Trump”. We firmly believe that Trump would have beaten Camala Harris regardless of Elon Musk’s actions.
The situation dramatically escalated when Elon Musk took to X, launching what we’ve called a “really big bomb”. Elon tweeted, “Donald Trump is in the files. You know those files? That is the real reason they haven’t made them public. N have a nice day, Donald J. Trump.”. We consider this accusation “vile” and “a very bad tweet”. We question the veracity of this claim, pointing out that if Trump were implicated in these files, they would have been released in 2016, 2020, or 2024. While we concede the “possibility that everybody’s implicated in them… and that’s why they haven’t come out,” we still find it unlikely that such information would be withheld if it could be used against Trump. Importantly, we emphasize that merely being “in the files” does not equate to impropriety; we are only concerned with involvement in “the degeneracy”. This accusation has been criticized as “way too serious of an accusation opposed without evidence” by Graham Allen, who warned of potential legal action from Trump. Even those on “the left” are reportedly “seizing on it,” questioning why Elon would have willingly worked with Trump if he possessed such knowledge.
Trump responded to Elon’s claims on Truth Social with a direct “counter punch,” stating that “the easiest way to save money in our budget… is to terminate Elon’s government until subsidies and contracts”. We don’t have a problem with this proposed action. Despite the harsh public words, we note an interesting moment: when asked directly if Elon had raised these concerns privately or if he should not be taken seriously about spending, Trump opted not to “slam him,” instead stating, “He worked hard and he did a good job”. We believe this shows Trump may “misses the place,” referring to the Oval Office, which he considers a “special place” where “everything big comes”.
This public spat is unequivocally “not good for America”. The severity of Elon’s tweet, unless he possesses absolute proof, is profound, and we fear it “might have taken it past the point of no return” for their relationship. The conflict is likely to provide “the left the headlines for the next month”. Some suggest this entire public battle could be a “fourth-dimensional chess move to get him to release the files,” and we acknowledge the possibility of such a strategic outcome. However, the immediate impact is a “disaster,” and we will continue to monitor the developing situation.
