Trump Targets “Woke” Harvard with Funding Cuts and Tax Exemption Threat!
We’re going NUCLEAR on the latest developments surrounding Donald Trump’s aggressive stance against universities like Harvard. As we discussed in our latest video, Trump has made it clear he’s ready to take drastic measures against institutions he believes are “churning out elitists” and fostering anti-American sentiment.
Trump is reportedly considering all options, including pulling federal funding and revoking Harvard’s tax-exempt status. We pointed out in our video the sheer scale of Harvard’s financial power, with an endowment exceeding $53 billion in fiscal year 2024. It’s astounding that such a wealthy institution benefits from billions in American tax dollars and doesn’t pay federal income tax on its net earnings. As we questioned, why should these universities, which seem to operate as businesses, be exempt from taxes, especially when they have the resources to, for instance, potentially pay college athletes?
Adding fuel to the fire, South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem has threatened to revoke Harvard’s ability to enroll foreign students if the university doesn’t share information on visa holders allegedly involved in “illegal and violent activities” during campus protests. We highlighted the significant number of foreign students at Harvard – over 10,000 – and the substantial funding they represent. The governor argues that it’s a “privilege” for foreign students to attend Harvard, not a guarantee. While we raised some concerns about the government potentially using the specter of anti-semitism in this context, the underlying issue of holding universities accountable for the actions of individuals on their campuses is a valid one.
Furthermore, as we covered, the IRS is reportedly considering rescinding Harvard’s tax-exempt status, with a final decision expected soon. This comes after Trump publicly called for the revocation, arguing that tax-exempt status is contingent on acting in the public interest and suggesting Harvard is pushing a political ideology. We echoed this sentiment in our video, questioning why institutions seemingly engaged in “profiteering” and “radicalizing” students should continue to benefit from tax exemptions. It’s worth noting that federal law does allow nonprofits to appeal such decisions in court.
Beyond Harvard, we also touched on Trump’s ongoing pressure on Fed Chairman Jerome Powell to cut interest rates. Trump believes lower rates would benefit America, while Powell appears hesitant, potentially due to concerns about inflation stemming from policies like Trump’s tariffs. As we discussed, Powell stated that Trump’s “sweeping tariffs” are “significantly larger than anticipated,” putting the Fed in “uncharted waters”. While the economic implications are complex, the political dynamics at play are undeniable.
Finally, we couldn’t ignore what we dubbed Trump’s “greatest trick ever” – the situation involving Democrats rallying around a deported gang member. We detailed how evidence has emerged seemingly contradicting the narrative of wrongful deportation, exposing what appears to be a significant misstep by the Democrat party.
