Woke Journo Targets Our Coffee Company with Baseless Smears and Harassment
We’ve recently experienced one of the most bizarre and frankly disturbing interactions with a self-proclaimed “lefty journalist” who seems intent on attacking our American coffee company for reasons that defy logic. This individual apparently infiltrated our operations under false pretenses and has since launched a campaign of misinformation and harassment, even directing a hate mob towards our customer service.
It all started when a Twitter thread went viral, garnering almost 70,000 likes, spreading false accusations about our business practices. The central claim, amplified by Derek Guy with his 1.3 million followers and 150,000 likes on one post alone, is that we operate a “sweat shop”. Let us be absolutely clear: these are libelous statements, and we unequivocally do not use sweat shops. It’s baffling why anyone would try to tear down an American company that employs approximately 15 people in the USA, sources its packaging domestically, and buys almost everything it uses from American businesses. While we do import coffee beans from regions like Ethiopia and Colombia – because, as any reasonable person knows, you cannot grow those specific beans in the United States due to climate limitations – this is standard practice in the coffee industry. Even Kona coffee, which we plan to offer soon, isn’t a staple of American coffee demand.
The genesis of this attack appears to stem from comments made about Nike. Their stock reportedly took a hit due to tariffs in Vietnam, where they manufacture their products. Additionally, Nike donates significant sums, around $40 million annually, to BLM and other Marxist-aligned causes. Our stance was simple: if Nike doesn’t want to face tariffs, perhaps they should consider manufacturing more in the USA. This perfectly reasonable suggestion seems to have triggered this journalist into a bizarre crusade against us.
Adding to the absurdity, this individual, who ironically writes about menswear, decided to harass our customer service representative, Maggie. Using a fake inquiry, he asked about purchasing one of our shirts, knowing full well that we primarily sell coffee and only had a very limited and unsuccessful venture into t-shirts in the past. Maggie, in a professional and courteous manner, informed him that our t-shirts are Gilden brand, made in Nicaragua from a 50/50 cotton-polyester blend. This was then used to try and score some kind of “gotcha” moment, despite the fact that we never claimed our limited run of shirts were made in America. The truth is, Gilden is a widely used brand for printed t-shirts. This entire charade was a blatant waste of our customer service department’s time.
The journalist then followed up by questioning why we don’t exclusively use USA-grown coffee beans like Kona. The answer is straightforward: there hasn’t been significant demand for Kona coffee, and it is considerably more expensive, making it challenging for a small company to sell. However, we have included Kona coffee in our roaster’s choice selections in the past and are open to offering it if demand exists. This entire line of questioning is disingenuous, designed to fit a false narrative.
The impact of this orchestrated attack has been significant. Our customer service department has been overwhelmed with inquiries from individuals influenced by this smear campaign, and we’ve seen an influx of negative reviews. This is a clear attempt to damage our business simply because we expressed a view on tariffs that apparently contradicts the ideology of this journalist.
However, we will not be intimidated. Our incredible customer service representative, Maggie, handled this ridiculous situation with professionalism and efficiency, resolving the fake inquiry in under 20 minutes. To show our appreciation for her dedication in the face of this harassment, Maggie will be receiving a bonus.
Furthermore, we are turning this negative situation into an opportunity. We are asking our loyal supporters to help us counter these baseless attacks by picking up our high-quality coffee products, especially our Mother’s Day gift boxes, and leaving honest reviews on platforms like Amazon. We offer a variety of options, including flavored and unflavored whole bean and K-cup coffees, with free next-day shipping. We are confident that the overwhelming support of our customers will drown out the noise of these malicious attacks and demonstrate that capitalism is the best response to such baseless smears. Despite this individual’s attempts to harm our business, we are hopeful that our viewers will rally behind us and help us achieve an all-time record day. Thank you for your continued support.
