VICTORY! YouTube Caves to Free Speech, Ditches Ridiculous Misgendering Rules!
Well, folks, you heard it here first! It looks like YouTube is finally waking up and smelling the free speech coffee! They’ve apparently decided to stop punishing creators for the left’s absurd hate speech rules about accidentally – or intentionally – misgendering people. And as you can imagine, the activist crowd is absolutely losing it!
It seems like, maybe ever since the election, or perhaps even before when it became clear Trump might win, YouTube has been quietly relaxing its grip on what you can talk about. Remember when you couldn’t even question the election? Now you can! And get this – you can even use people’s correct biological pronouns without the fear of getting your channel nuked!. The trans activist community is in full meltdown mode over this, and frankly, it’s about time.
This isn’t happening in a vacuum, folks. We’re seeing a rise in competition in the live streaming space, and YouTube knows it. Platforms like Rumble and Kick are offering a haven for free speech, and people are flocking there. When you have CEOs of these platforms standing up against censorship, like the Rumble CEO did in Brazil, it sends a clear message. They stood their ground for American law and free speech, unlike others who caved.
Now, here’s the juicy bit. It looks like YouTube quietly scrubbed the phrase “gender identity and expression” from its list of protected categories in their hate speech policy sometime between late January and early February. This is HUGE because, let’s be honest, this is the weapon the far-left has been using to censor videos, demonetize content, and get people banned for simply not bowing down to their preferred pronouns. Up until recently, that could cost you your entire platform!.
Of course, the LGBT activist groups are crying foul, saying this change removes clarity around protections for trans and non-binary users. A spokesperson for YouTube downplayed it as a “routine copy edit” and claims enforcement remains unchanged. But come on, we all know what’s really going on here. They haven’t given any real explanation for why that phrase was removed.
And let’s not forget the bigger picture. Some of us believe this is a direct result of Donald Trump putting his foot down on DEI and woke ideology. He banned this nonsense from the federal government, and it seems like that’s having a ripple effect. Look at Disney even starting to backtrack on their woke garbage!.
The GLAD folks are throwing a fit, saying that when companies decide certain groups are “less than others,” it leads to real-world harm. But nobody is saying anyone is less than! Using biological pronouns is not hateful; it’s factual! If someone wants to call me a girl, should they be banned? Absolutely not! The outrage is ridiculous.
It’s also worth noting that GLAD themselves gave YouTube a pretty poor safety score, partly because of the lack of clear policies against misgendering and deadnaming. And get this – YouTube is apparently the only major platform that’s shady about wrongful demonetization and removing LGBT content. Funny enough, when they talk about LGBT content being removed, it’s often the stuff nobody wants to see anyway, like dildo reviews or content aimed at indoctrinating kids, not just normal everyday vlogs.
There’s also the little tidbit about Google extending an olive branch to Donald Trump after years of censoring him. Why? Well, it might have something to do with the Department of Justice breathing down their necks about antitrust issues. These companies only care about LGBTQ+ issues when it lines their pockets. It’s all about the money, plain and simple. And with more competition offering free speech, YouTube has to adapt or get left behind. Even Meta, the Facebook folks, seem to be rolling back some of this stuff.
Look, free speech is back! It’s not perfect; even Elon at X still censors some things. But the fact that YouTube and Facebook are seemingly capitulating is a massive win.
So, what does this mean for us? It means we can hopefully speak more freely without constantly worrying about getting banned for stating basic biological facts.
