The Emmy and Grammy award-winning funnyman has engineered a major coup in the streaming landscape.
Two months after he requested “Chappelle’s Show” to be removed from Netflix due to contractual issues with his former partners, the acclaimed comedy series is officially back on the streaming giant.
In a nearly 11-minute stand-up monologue posted to Instagram and YouTube, titled “Redemption,” Chappelle revealed that his show, which originally aired on Comedy Central, has officially returned to Netflix.
“I know where my power lies,” Chappelle said after summarizing his dispute with Comedy Central, which stemmed from his demand to be paid for any future deals related to the show.
“I asked you to stop watching the show and thank God almighty for you, you did. You made that show worthless. Because without your eyes, it’s nothing,” Chappelle told the audience in the expletive-laced routine. “And when you stopped watching it, they called me. I got my name back and I got my license back and I got my show back and they paid me millions of dollars. Thank you very much.”
