BIG Diddy Trial News: Judge Lashes Out, Jury Selection Advances, and Kamala Harris Name-Dropped
We’ve got some major developments coming out of the Diddy trial this week, including a judge who isn’t holding back and some unexpected names getting pulled into the conversation.
First off, things got heated during jury selection when Diddy’s lawyer, Mark Geragos, faced sharp criticism from the judge. In a closed-door meeting, the judge reportedly called comments the lawyer made on a podcast “outrageous”. Specifically, the judge lambasted Geragos for describing the all-female prosecution team as a “six-pack of white women“. This lawyer, by the way, has represented other notable figures like Michael Jackson and Hunter Biden. The judge pointed out that making such comments on a podcast violates a court rule against lawyers involved in ongoing cases making extrajudicial statements.
Meanwhile, jury selection is continuing in Manhattan. Attorneys and prosecutors are facing off to pick the pivotal panel. The judge has been questioning prospective jurors one by one to determine their qualifications. They originally planned to question as many as 150 potential jurors. As of today (Wednesday), the jury is expected to be seated. While it seemed like a slow start on the second day, the judge pushed both sides to get it done so opening statements can begin as scheduled on Monday. We needed 45 qualified jurors to move forward, and as of recently, there were 35 in the pool. Both sides agreed they would likely get it done today or tomorrow. Jurors have been repeatedly asked if they or anyone close to them have been a victim of the alleged Diddy-type behavior.
Interestingly, we learned about the ethnic breakdown of the selected jurors after two days: five white men, four black men, three black women, two white women, one Latino man, and one woman whose ethnicity wasn’t clear.
One of the most talked-about potential jurors is a man who admitted he’d seen the hotel surveillance video of Diddy and Cassie Ventura. He told the judge he thought Diddy looked angry, hostile, and entitled in the brutal scene. Shockingly, this information wasn’t enough for the judge to excuse him, and neither the prosecution nor the defense objected. It’s very odd, but frankly, the rest of the jury will see that video, and there’s zero context that makes it okay. While Diddy isn’t on trial for that specific incident – he settled the civil suit with Cassie – it’s the elephant in the courtroom.
Perhaps most shocking to me, the jury in this trial will not be sequestered. This means they won’t be isolated and could potentially be influenced or targeted. Jury tampering is a real concern, and I’m completely shocked they aren’t sequestering them.
Now, let’s talk about the names popping up. We’ve heard Kid Cudi, Kanye West, and Mike Myers mentioned, as well as Michael B. Jordan. Just because they’re named doesn’t mean they’ve done anything wrong.
There’s also been chatter about Kamala Harris being connected. A tweet resurfaced where she thanked Diddy for hosting a town hall. While this doesn’t automatically mean she was at any parties, it’s certainly being discussed. There’s also a viral list going around with names like Stacy Abrams, Maxine Waters, Meek Mill, Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, and Sofia Vergara, being presented as a “Diddy list”. I want to be clear: this list is not an official court document. It’s an old anonymous leak from 4chan that I’ve had for years. While it doesn’t come from the court case, it doesn’t necessarily mean the connections aren’t true either; nobody really knows if it’s from court or other interactions with Diddy.
Remember, the entire series of legal events was largely kicked off by Cassie Ventura’s bombshell civil suit back in 2023. Even though Diddy settled it quickly, it opened the floodgates. Cassie is presumed to be a central witness for the prosecution and she could absolutely sink him.
Diddy previously turned down a potential plea deal and faces life in prison if convicted. I still think there’s a possibility of a last-minute plea deal before trial starts. My prediction, time stamp it now: there’s at least a 25% chance he reaches an agreement for a short jail time, and we never get any names revealed.
My personal opinion based on what I know of Hollywood and the music industry is that while Diddy likely did most of what is claimed, about 95% of the people participating with him were doing so willingly or begrudgingly to advance their careers. I find it hard to believe he took anything that wasn’t offered or traded.
We also touched on a bizarre connection to a “Trump lunatic guy”, but didn’t dive deeper into that one in this update.
