Karmelo Anthony Case: Funds Dry Up Amidst Mounting Legal Battles and Bizarre Campaigns
Updates continue to emerge rapidly regarding the Karmelo Anthony case, with his initial court appearance scheduled for July 18th. As we compile a comprehensive overview of the events that have unfolded, significant details are surfacing concerning his legal defense, controversial fundraising efforts, and the concerning actions of those associated with the situation.
Legal Developments and Representation
Karmelo Anthony is set to appear before the Honorable Judge John R. Roach Jr. on July 18, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. to address criminal charges. Judge Roach Jr. has a reputation for being tough on youth who have committed heinous crimes. A failure to respond to this notice could result in a warrant for Karmelo’s arrest.
Karmelo has officially designated attorney Billy Clark of Clark Law Firm PLLC as his lead counsel, with attorney Kim Cole of KCO PLC serving as co-counsel. It appears multiple lawyers from different law firms have been retained. Additionally, an order has been issued to redact Karmelo’s residential address from public documents. Despite his lawyer’s assertion that a jury would recognize Karmelo acted in self-defense, the trial itself has been delayed until at least 2026, and plea offers are anticipated. Karmelo has, of course, been indicted.
Controversial Fundraising and Financial Claims
A significant point of contention revolves around the finances connected to Karmelo’s case. It’s been alleged that the Karmelo Anthony family has “pissed away” at least $500,000. Despite considerable funds raised, they have reportedly gone to court claiming to be broke and have been granted taxpayer-funded legal defense. Karmelo’s parents are said to have raised nearly $600,000.
However, in recent days, donations have notably begun to dry up, though several hundred dollars per day are still coming in, pushing the total raised to $542,000. Supporters are reportedly angered that the funds raised for legal defense are allegedly gone, although concrete evidence confirming the money is entirely depleted has not yet surfaced. It remains uncertain if there will ever be an official accounting for how these funds were spent.
The Handlers and “Grifters”
The situation is further complicated by individuals described as “grifters” surrounding Karmelo. Dominique Alexander, identified as Karmelo’s handler, has reportedly been busy filing “spurious lawsuits” in an attempt to keep his name in the press. Alexander recently filed a lawsuit in Texas to challenge Senate Bill 10, a law signed by Governor Greg Abbott that takes effect on September 1st, which permits Ten Commandments displays. Alexander’s legal challenge argues that these displays implicitly condone slavery.
A Bizarre and Manipulative Campaign
A particularly disturbing development involves a campaign initiated by a woman named Tiffany Billions. This “Hey Karmelo” campaign is actively asking people to donate to Karmelo’s Givego fundraiser. Alarming details include the recruitment of teens and children to create videos endorsing Karmelo, where they read scripts promoting sentiments like “I support Karmelo bullying is wrong self-defense is not a crime we support you”. It’s crucial to note that there is absolutely no evidence whatsoever that Karmelo Anthony was bullied, making this a completely fabricated narrative.
Tiffany Billions’ actions extend beyond this campaign. She has been doxing individuals merely for commenting on reports about Karmelo Anthony. She also attempted to file a criminal charge against Hunter Metaf, Austin Metaf’s twin brother, and falsely claimed that Austin’s father, Jeff Metaf, orchestrated his own “swatting” incident. Furthermore, she has threatened to contact Child Protective Services (CPS) on reporters, including Sarah Fields, and repeatedly doxed Sarah Fields and her children’s names on social media, leading to the eventual takedown of Billions’ Facebook page. She is also propagating a conspiracy theory that individuals were hired at the Colin County Courthouse specifically to leak information to reporters. Her “cult,” which she refers to as her “disruptors,” recently attempted to dox a reporter’s husband based on her misinformation. The Metaf family has unfortunately endured numerous threats and online attacks. We strongly advise the public not to engage with this bizarre and manipulative campaign. We also believe the District Attorney should issue her a cease and desist letter.
Transparency and Media Coverage
All documents related to Karmelo Anthony’s case, including his notice to appear, letters of representation, the order to redact his address, and the bill of indictment, have been released thanks to a Freedom of Information Act request by Sarah Fields. These documents are now publicly accessible, providing important transparency.
Despite these developments, there is a notable lack of widespread media coverage on the case, beyond initial reports of the indictment. Outlets like CBS News covered the indictment a week late. Black Sports Online appears to be one of the few platforms consistently supporting Karmelo Anthony. There’s a pervasive narrative that Karmelo was a “good boy” who did nothing wrong and that Austin Metaf was bullying him, with the implication that more money would somehow establish his innocence. This narrative is viewed critically as an attempt by “leeches” to exploit the situation.
We will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates as they become available.
