We SJWs are a menace. We demand that video games bend to our whims, and refuse to play anything that doesn’t adhere to our ideologies. If anyone resists, we kick and scream like babies until we get our own way. We’re unrelenting and overall, just incredibly unreasonable. Even childish.
So, thank god for our opposition – a bunch of people crying over Starfield‘s character creator screen.
That’s right, some grown-ass adults are spending their weekend mad online because Starfield lets you select your character’s pronouns. Because who wants more customisation options in an RPG with character creation? Not these intellectual titans, that’s for sure.
Anyway, without further ado, here’s what we’re dealing with here. There’s nothing I can really say to prepare you for this bloke losing his shite over a single option in a video game, so… enjoy?
Alright, jokes aside, I’ll assume that these people are aware that they have pronouns. With that in mind, what they’re kicking up a fuss about is the fact that your pronoun choice is separate from your body type, something RPGs have only begun to do recently. But since this means you get even more customisation options to play around with here, it’s an odd thing to protest against in any case.
It just goes to show how dangerous it can be to spend all of your time in bigoted corners of the internet, to the point where a language device can set you on a bloody rage, as if you have actually been slighted. As if you are facing any hardship whatsoever, because of an option that lets you get more creative with your Starfield characters.
Hopefully these lot – especially Heel vs Babyface – will simmer down and realise it’s not as much of a fuss as it’s being made out to be. It’s quite neat, if anything. We don’t see many games that let you play as a non-binary character, and now we have two back-to-back with Starfield and Baldur’s Gate 3. It’s nice to know that more players will see themselves in these games, as so many of us have already for years.
