More women!
Marvel Studios’ new ‘woke’ president Victoria Alonso is considering dropping the ‘Men’ from ‘X-Men’ to make the brand name more ‘inclusive.’
In a recent interview with Nuke the Fridge, Alonso, who just four days ago was promoted to president of Physical, Post Production, VFX, and Animation, ‘hinted that internal thinking is that the name ‘X-Men’ isn’t sufficiently inclusive.’
‘I don’t know where the future is going. It’s funny that people call it the X-Men, there’s a lot of female superheroes in that X-Men group, so I think it’s outdated,’ she said.
Alonso added that other Marvel non-movie properties are undergoing similar ‘woke’ changes, a company directive that Kevin Feige, a longtime Marvel executive, has been working on in recent years to better integrate the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the comic books, which have trended towards a change in ‘wokeness.’
The newly-minted president also has been behind an effort to turn perpetual Marvel villain Loki into a ‘gender fluid’ character.
