Trump’s ‘Big Beautiful Bill’ Passes House, Delivering Major Campaign Promises! Woke Losers MELTDOWN!
What’s up everyone, Jeremy here from TheQuartering! We’ve got massive news out of the House this morning, where President Trump’s sprawling tax and immigration agenda just passed by the narrowest of margins, 215 to 214! This “one big beautiful bill,” as it’s known, is heading to the Senate after a marathon session that wrapped up just before 7:00 a.m. Thursday.
This legislation is designed to transform the federal government and economy. It delivers on basically every major campaign promise Donald Trump has issued. We’re talking about extending trillions of dollars in tax cuts from his first term. Plus, it adds new campaign promises, including no tax on tips and no tax on overtime wages. No tax on tips, the President said, came at the suggestion of a waitress. No tax on overtime soon followed in stump speeches.
But it’s not just tax cuts! This bill is also powered by the drive to deport immigrants and build up the military. I’m fine with building a military, and I’m fine with deporting immigrants. There’s $175 billion specifically set aside for deportations and the wall. Common sense border security is included.
Now, let’s be real, this bill isn’t perfect. There are things worth criticizing. One major point is the cost. The latest projection from the Congressional Budget Office shows it will add $2.4 trillion over 10 years to the national debt, which already exceeds $36 trillion. Thomas Massie, one of the Republican naysayers, criticized the bill, calling it a “debt bomb ticking” and saying it dramatically increases deficits in the near term. He argues bond investors are already sending messages, with Moody’s downgrading our credit rating and investors demanding higher interest rates.
To help offset the cost, the measure would slash spending on social safety net programs. This includes more than $1 trillion over 10 years. It could also potentially force nearly $500 billion in cuts to Medicare over the next decade and could strip Medicaid coverage from 8.7 million people. This could lead to 7.6 million more uninsured people over the next 10 years. It’s funny how the left and places like the Washington Post suddenly care about government spending when they’ve been railing against things like Doge, which the President believes can help offset costs.
Despite disagreements among Republicans that appeared to doom the legislation on numerous occasions, Trump himself stepped in as a closer. He intervened with holdouts twice, even appearing on speakerphone in a private room. The White House warned that GOP rejection would be the “ultimate betrayal”. Speaker Mike Johnson is being hailed as heroic for pulling rabbits out of a hat and working hand-in-glove with President Trump to get everyone to yes.
Other things in this bill include a $4,000 bonus to the standard deduction for seniors. Ending taxes on Social Security benefits, which was a campaign pledge, did not make the legislation. But this deduction is still better than what it was. Plus, suppressors are reportedly no longer banned too! There is so much crazy good stuff in this bill.
Yes, there was drama during the vote, which required lawmakers to stay alert for over 24 hours. Some even joke that members of both parties fell asleep and missed the vote. But the final vote came in, passing by just one vote.
This is a huge win for Americans! No tax on tips, no tax on overtime is a massive win. Putting more money in Americans’ pockets seems like a good thing. We know that when the American people have more money in their pocket, good things happen – businesses grow, savings accounts grow.
The bill now goes to the Senate. It’s difficult to know how much of it will survive there, as it’s expected to undergo extensive revisions. But for right now, it’s one big victory. Let’s get this through the Senate so the American people can have more money in their pocket.
We still need to work hard on getting government spending down and seeing some of those Doge cuts actually happen. Massie is right about needing to address the debt. But today, we celebrate this victory!
